I remember back in the 80s saying to Jasper Johns while we were both lunching at DaSilvano, not at the same table of course, “I know what it is to take an idea and beat it to death.“ I had a lot of nerve. I don’t remember which project I was working on at that time, but I can tell you I’m taking an idea and beating it to death now.
